Wyc Grousbeck hints WNBA team could come to Boston

Wyc Grousbeck revealed in an interview at Axios BFD in New York on Thursday that “there’s some discussions underway” about bringing Boston a WNBA franchise.

“Stay tuned, but I’m not sure,” he added. “I’ve heard some rumblings.”

Grousbeck led a group that purchased the Celtics in 2002 for $360 million. There are many WNBA franchises that are also owned by NBA owners across the country but the only franchise in New England to this point has been the Connecticut Sun, which play at Mohegan Sun Arena.
