Inspiring Sibling Support: Lakers’ Tristan Thompson Seeks Guardianship for Younger Brother Amari.

After their mother Andrea passed away in January, Tristan Thompson stepped up to become Amari’s primary carer and has now sought to become Amari’s legal guardian.

On Friday, the NBA free agent and ex-partner of Khloé Kardashian sought sole legal guardianship of his 17-year-old sibling through legal proceedings.

According to court records acquired by PEOPLE, Tristan Thompson, 32, claims he is his younger brother Trevor’s only living relative capable of providing the care he needs because his father Trevor has been away from the family’s life since 2014.

Thompson wants to gain guardianship so that he can give 24-hour care for Amari, who suffers from epilepsy and other medical issues.

According to the papers filed in court, “Amari is a minor and has medical conditions that render him unable to care for himself or seek gainful employment.”

According to the papers, Amari has been staying at Tristan’s house in Hidden Hills, California.

The statement goes on to explain that it would be in Amari’s best interest to have a guardian appointed so that someone would be responsible for meeting his basic requirements. Furthermore, Amari will receive a small legacy from his recently deceased mother, Mary, and a guardian would not be able to manage and invest in Mary’s fortune on his behalf.

Amari has reportedly gotten $103,475 from his mother’s inheritance, as evidenced by court papers. It was decided that Tristan would assume responsibility for safeguarding the inheritance and coordinating Amari’s care and medical appointments. According to the filings in court, Tristan also intends to file for Amari to be granted U.S. citizenship. Amari was born in Canada.

Andrea, mother to Tristan and Amari, passed away on January 5 after a heart аttаck at her home in Toronto. The first news outlet to break the story was TMZ Sports.

Tristan went to Toronto to visit Khloé, who is close to Andrea, and the rest of his family.

The 39-year-old co-founder of Good American spoke about her decision to take in Tristan and his brother Amari on the season finale of The Kardashians in July.

After Tristan’s roof collapsed owing to the severe weather, Kardashian, who shares 14-month-old son Tatum and 5-year-old daughter True with the NBA player, revealed she had taken the couple in.

The 42-year-old SKIMS founder joked with her sister Kim and their mother Kris about the shifts, saying, “Isn’t God just funny?” How come Tristan and his younger brother had to move in with you and his roof caved in right as you were about to start your year of like, freedom?

You want to make God laugh? Tell him your ideas. This is my number one motto. After noting that “God does have a plan,” Kardashian said, “and God doesn’t want him to be alone right now — and why should he be?”

Later in the scene, Kardashian also mentioned that her son Tatum, who turned one on July 28, and Amari have developed a close relationship.

“He likes Amari,” Kardashian revealed. One might even sаy that “they like each other.”

Khloé has stated that she and her ex-boyfriend have not reconciled, despite the fact that they are still living together and she has not left his side.
