The Celtics never took their foot off the gas Friday against the Magic, earning perhaps their best win this season.
At times last season, the Boston Celtics had difficulty holding leads. But that has not been the case so far this campaign. Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla recently chalked up the team’s ability to maintain leads as well as chip away at them to a change in mindset.
“I think it’s just the mindset that the guys are building and the trust that they’re building,” Mazzulla said. “… And I see a significant difference in the trust that the guys have in each other than I did in the beginning of the year because it just comes with time.”
On Friday, Boston beat the Orlando Magic — a team that has been a persistent thorn in the Celtics’ side the past few seasons — by 17 points.
The 128-111 win marked Boston’s 19th victory of the season. They now have more victories than any other team in the NBA at the moment, as the Minnesota Timberwolves have the second-most with 18.
