Messi’s Bold Claim Over Lack of World Cup Recognition by PSG Debunked

“I was the only player [among the world champions] who did not have recognition,” Messi said. “I was in the country against which we won the final.”

While the Argentine hasn’t missed an opportunity to take a shot at PSG since leaving as a free agent, certain accounts on Twitter reminded the 36-year-old that isn’t true.

A photo and video of Messi receiving recognition from his teammates at a training session and the guard of honor surfaced after he made the remarks.

Furthermore, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner understands that wanting a celebration at the stadium with a French crowd after beating France would be awkward.

Nonetheless, this all appears to be the petty side of Messi aimed at PSG, considering the fans booed him and protested for him to leave. The Athletic also published that the Ligue 1 giants look better team-wise without the Argentine and Neymar Jr.

It will be interesting to see if Messi continues to throw shade at PSG or if this is only the beginning of more.
