Losing their fourth-consecutive game, the Los Angeles Lakers fell to the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night at home. With the Golden State Warriors defeating the Detroit Pistons, this loss dropped the Lakers below the play-in picture. While it is still too early to be watching the standings, all of these losses count towards the final playoff picture, and the Lakers know they are not in a good spot right now.
Following this loss to the Grizzlies, Lakers star LeBron James dropped a brutally honest statement on the state of his team, saying, “We just suck right now.”
Not holding back, James shared his brutally honest thoughts on the state of the Lakers right now. While the Grizzlies are a bit better than their record, considering 26 games have been played without Ja Morant, this is still a team the Lakers feel they should beat. When factoring in the Grizzlies’ pursuit of a play-in spot, one the Lakers held entering this game, the matchup with Memphis had even more significance.
Unable to defeat the Grizzlies at home, the Lakers dropped another important game, which brings their record to 17-19 on the season. Set to face the LA Clippers on Sunday, a team that has had their number over the last decade, and even more so over the last few seasons, the Lakers need to find a way to get this right.
